Proverbs 19:14

KJB: House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.

NIV: Why change “fathers” to “parents”?

The movement, led ultimately by the devil, to remove the father from headship of the family.

NRSV: House and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

In verse 13, “son” is changed to “child”. I remember being told that these kind of word changes are meant to fit with the world’s spirit of gender-blending, of exalting women under the guise of “equality.”

Most professing Christians, living in the 21st century, are going to say “well, that’s great. This is a new time and our bibles should reflect that.”

The King James Bible says, God is the same yesterday, today and forever. If we believe that, we will not trust the continuous shifting of the words of God.
